Laboratory

At Mission Animal & Bird Hospital, our patients and their care givers benefit from our In House Laboratory as well as the outside reference laboratory that we utilize.
Our in house lab can provide our doctors with a complete blood count, blood chemistry including electrolytes, and urinalysis within minutes. This is important in emergency cases as well as pre-anesthetic situations or if our doctors want to do a quick recheck on blood sugar or kidney values. In some cases, such as with Feline Leukemia and FIV testing, we want the test results immediately so the owner can make the most informed choice on how to proceed with treatment.
For more specialized testing or in situations when we want the opinion of a veterinary pathologist (such as with a biopsy), samples are sent to a leading veterinary reference laboratory. The outside reference lab picks up samples at our hospital twice daily and many results are received back within six hours. |
